ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES

The English for Academic Purposes program is a preparatory program that develops core English Language skills within a post-secondary context. Designed for students who want to go to College/University and need to improve by more than 1 level. This program focuses on the development of academic reading and writing skills but will also help students make progress in academic speaking and listening skills.

Students will learn about academic culture, time management, academic integrity, critical thinking, note-taking skills, collaborative learning and expert techniques needed to take the IELTS exams as part of a successful post-secondary experience. This enables students to approach College/University studies with the required English language competencies.

All new students will be taking a placement test with a CSL teacher. This will determine their level.

What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), is an internationally recognized test of English proficiency. IELTS test results are recognized by more than 9,000 organizations worldwide, including universities, immigration departments, government agencies and multinational companies.

IELTS is the most popular English language qualification, particularly if participants are hoping to work or study in the UK, Ireland, Australia or Canada.

NOTE: This program is not eligible for the Student Visa in T&T.
