Following successful completion of the programme, students will be awarded the Professional Certificate in Translation by the Caribbean School of Languages. Due to the simillarities in content and level, the holders of the said certificate may be eligible sit external examinations leading to the Diploma in Translation (Master level) of Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL – UK).
Students who are successful in the CIOL examinations may be eligible to apply for membership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the Caribbean School of Languages.
The CIOL Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) is the gold standard for anyone wanting a career as a freelance translator or to work as a translator for international corporations worldwide and meets the need for a high-level professional translating qualification.
The DipTrans qualifies you not just for the highest-level translation work but also to become a valued participant in a community of like-minded professionals widely respected for their skill, expertise and experience.
The DipTrans is an accredited, internationally recognised qualification which can improve career prospects for working translators.

=NOTE: This is a self-funded programme meaning the programme is not GATE funded. Listed prices are valid for applications received between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
Tuition fees do not include academic materials, the external examinations, supplies, fees for supplementary exams and repeats, equipment, printing, trips, professional body fees, etc.
The programme is made up of three units:

Unit 01: General Translation | Mandatory core | This unit focuses on written translation of a demanding but non-specialised text of about 600 words. The candidates will translate the text into their target language to a professional standard of accuracy. |
Unit 02 Semi-specialised options: | Option (choose one) | This unit focuses on written translation of a semi-specialised text of 450 words set within the following subject areas: Business, Literature or Science. Based on the choice, candidates will then translate texts into their target language to a professional standard of accuracy. |
Unit 03 Semi-specialised options: • D (Science) • E (Social Science) • F (Law) • G (Arts and Culture) | Option (choose one) | This unit focuses on written translation of a semi-specialised text of 450 words set within the following subject areas: Science, Social Science, Law or Arts and Culture. Based on the choice, candidates will have two hours to translate a text into their target language to a professional standard of accuracy. |

ASSESSMENTS
Assessments typically fall into four broad categories: 1. Individual & group presentations, 2 Translation portfolios, 3 Translation projects 4. Written exams, 5. Coursework and 6. Independent study: This may include preparation for lessons, completion of assessment tasks, or revision.
